Every person who drives in Lagos can confirm that one of the worst things that could happen to you in this busy city is your car’s battery suddenly giving up the ghost.

Many vehicle owners encounter this issue at the most random and inconvenient hour of the day. However, car owners get a handful of advance signs that their vehicle’s battery is giving up.

A lot of these signs are ignored until it is too late. Whistle wants to save you from experiencing such an upsetting car problem. Here are three signs that your car’s battery is on its last leg:

Ignition Noise

When you start your car, you expect to hear a smooth sound as the engine comes on. If what you hear instead is a tiered clicking sound, your battery is faulty.

When a vehicle’s battery is failing, it struggles to work as usual so the electric current that the ignition sends to the engine is weakened.

Dull Headlights

One of the most noticeable signs of a bad car battery is the dullness of the headlights.

This happens because energy from the battery is what powers the headlights of the vehicle. If the battery is not performing at its optimum level, the headlights will be affected.

Do not overlook this once you see notice it as it reduces your ability to drive well at night.

Accelerate to start

The ideal way to start a vehicle is by simply using the key without using any other components, especially fuel.

A car with a bad battery will usually not come on unless the driver accelerates while starting the engine.

Once you notice your vehicle requires this to come on, call your mechanic to come and inspect it. Also, get ready to buy a new battery.
